Formerly Balsamroot Winery, Hard Row to Hoe Vineyards changed their name to celebrate the areas, uh, shall we say, dissipated historical beginnings. The decor offers hints of the lusty goings on; pictures of curvy ladies in certain poses, feathered boas strewn about and don't forget to look closely at the wall paper!
The tasting room bar is fairly small becoming quickly overwhelmed with only a few groups. It works out as long as people share the bar space and move around, which should be easy as there are lots of fun things to check out around the room (Hard Row to Hoe panties for your favorite girlfriend?)
The owners Don and Judy Phelps have done a terrific job making this brothel themed winery a fun stop. You will find them or staff member Rudy behind the bar pouring wine. Hard Row offers small plates for snacking- great for a group of 2 to soak up a delicious glass red or white wine. They have a few tables outside, so bring a picnic and stay a while.
